Alexandra Asseily is a psychotherapist. She is a governor and co-founder of the Centre for Lebanese Studies, Oxford, a founding member of the Ara Pacis Initiative, and a former member of the Advisory Board of the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University. In 1998 Alexandra initiated Hadiqat As-Samah, the Garden of Forgiveness, in downtown Beirut. Since 2011, she has been leading a series of training workshops in Lebanon on ‘Healing the Wounds of History: addressing the roots of violence’, which highlight the role of trans-generational trauma and forgiveness.The HWH program includes the training of teachers and school counsellors for the Ministry of Education, and helps reduce friction between Syrian refugees and Lebanese teachers and students.
