Dr Carrie MacLeod
Scholar-practitioner and artist, facilitating dialogue, inspiring fresh response through engagement with arts, Canada
Hope rises in the intervals between sound and silence. When current headlines render a speechless response, hope calls us to steward the absences in every sense. There are many lived experiences that cannot be directly translated in this era of forced migration and civil wars. Where do stories of hope land? As I work with newcomers in Canada via the arts, I listen for percussive rhythms that carry unspeakable moments through space and time. I watch memories of home transform into original compositions and choreographic scores. The subtle cadence of hope returns to the body one sense at a time.
