We are in need of re-learning our humanity in a world that recognises and reaches out to all, particularly the vulnerable and the marginalised. Such a hand of solidarity and compassion is the pathway to overcoming new and emerging threats of violent extremism, social exclusion, and the complex human challenges of climate change and global warming.

The African Spirit of Ubuntu, “I am because you are,” comes to the fore. It accentuates our existence as interdependent on the existence of others. Africa contributes the least to global warming but is suffering the worst tragedies such as the famine in some parts of the horn of Africa. Human Interdependence defines our capacities for peaceful co-existence with the human dignity we all deserve.
