Svanhildur

Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir is the Director for Culture and Tourism for the City of Reykjavík. The department is responsible for running the cultural institutions run by the City. She has worked in the cultural sector in Iceland since 1998; for Reykjavík Arts Festival and Reykjavík European City of Culture in 2000, as the initiator and director of Visit Reykjavík, which is the city office for tourism, marketing and events. She headed the application process for the nomination Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature and is now a member of the board governing the programme. Svanhildur is a member of the board of Harpa, the Concert Hall and Conference Center in Reykjavík and has been the chair of the Icelandic Tourism Council since 2007 – an advisory council to the Minister of Tourism. She has been involved in voluntary work for UNICEF in Iceland for several years and is the chairman of the board of UNICEF National Committee in Iceland since 2010.
