An Icelandic musician and composer, Sólrún has built a career rooted in collaborative artistry across music, visual arts, dance, and theater. As a member of the band amiina, she spent over two decades exploring the intersections of sound and performance. This journey included extensive world tours from 1999 to 2019 with both amiina and Sigur Rós, performing at prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.
Beyond the concert stage, she is a founding collaborator of the performing arts group Bíbí og Blaka, which specializes in contemporary dance and music for children. Their productions have been honored with the Icelandic Performing Arts Awards (Gríman) and the DV Cultural Prize. Her professional portfolio includes contributions to dozens of recordings and multidisciplinary projects with a diverse range of international artists, including Sigur Rós, Spiritualized, Damien Rice, Yann Tiersen, Julianna Barwick and Lee Hazlewood.
In addition to her creative output, she has dedicated nearly a decade to the Reykjavík College of Music, serving as Vice Principal for the past four years. Her artistic practice also extends into the tactile world of ceramics, where she focuses on exploring and working with local materials. Whether through sound, education, or clay, she remains dedicated to the pursuit of evocative, cross-disciplinary storytelling and the preservation of craft.
